Overview
Forty PDF is a browser-based workspace for preparing PDF documents before they are shared. Users add one or more PDFs, arrange, rotate or remove pages, and mark private details by dragging areas over the page or by finding selectable text. Text finding marks the complete text run containing a match, so it can include neighboring words.
After marking, users review every included page and build an export. The prepared copy contains page images with the marked areas burned in. Exports do not retain searchable text, text selection, accessibility tags, valid digital signatures, interactive forms, links or attachments.
The tool supports recurring handoffs through saved delivery setups, which capture source roles, page plans, marks, finding rules and output preferences for another batch. Each recipient can receive a separate version, exported as one combined PDF or a ZIP of files. Setup backups can be downloaded and encrypted with a separate recovery key.
Documents are processed locally in the browser and are not uploaded to a document AI service. Projects, rules and templates can be saved on the device, though that storage is not encrypted. The current public beta is free and requires no account or checkout.
